"Newsjacking": a marketing technique that makes the buzz: "Newsjacking is a new concept invented by David Meerman Scott in his book of the same name. Indeed, this new marketing technique consists in diverting a new one by injecting its ideas in order to generate visibility and commitment on social networks. More simply, it means taking something that is popular and talked about and using it to draw more attention to you or your business, as these brands have done with PokémonGo or Star Wars. Indeed, this new strategy can help companies get noticed by surfing on the "wave of popularity". But be careful, Newsjacking can be half angel/half demon in the sense that it is capable of producing good buzz like bad buzz. This new technique is therefore a double-edged sword, we must know how to use it at the right time and avoid diverting sensitive subjects."
