Oriented towards renewal and digital, the action plan of the Moroccan National Office of Tourism (ONMT) for the year 2019 was presented to the national media by the Director General of the Office, Mr Adel El Fakir, on January 22, 2019. The "Big Mac" brand no longer belongs solely to McDo:
McDonald's no longer has the exclusive right to use the term "Big Mac" in Europe. The American brand lost the intellectual property of the famous sandwich after a legal battle against an Irish channel. The Irish company filed an application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in March 2017 to stop McDonald's exclusive use of the term "Big Mac" in the EU. What was Supermac blaming McDonald's for? The Irish company accused the American giant of engaging in "trademark intimidation, filing brand names that were simply set aside for use against future competitors," Supermac said in a statement.
