Domino’s is bringing a futuristic twist to seaside snacking with the launch of Domidog, a four-legged robotic delivery dog designed to keep pizzas safe from one of the British coastline’s most notorious nuisances: seagulls.
This summer, holidaymakers visiting popular beaches in the UK may spot Domidog navigating the sand, avoiding curious children and determined gulls, all while keeping pizza orders hot, fresh, and untouched. The pilot project, launched by Domino’s, combines high-tech robotics with a playful solution to a very real problem faced by beachgoers.
Built using Boston Dynamics’ advanced robotic technology, Domidog is equipped with stereo cameras and sophisticated sensors that allow it to move seamlessly across beaches, dodge obstacles, and deliver pizza directly into customers’ hands. Its primary mission: protect your slice from being stolen by seagulls.
According to a recent Domino’s survey, seagulls rank among the top frustrations for Brits on the coast, just behind unpleasant public toilets and overcrowded beaches. “Seagulls have stolen too many seaside snacks over the years,” explains Izzy Gardener, spokesperson for Domino’s. “With Domidog, we’re experimenting with an innovative way to ensure your pizza stays just as delicious on the beach as it would at home.”
This campaign blends humour, technology, and practical service innovation, bringing together Domino’s quirky marketing style with cutting-edge robotics. While still in the testing phase, the concept has already captured the public’s imagination, offering a fun glimpse into how tech could improve everyday moments—even at the beach.
As food delivery evolves, Domino’s continues to push boundaries, proving that even your beach lunch can be protected with the latest in robotic innovation.
