Function Health, the health platform combining comprehensive lab testing with AI-powered MRI scans, has unveiled a new campaign with creative agency Arts & Letters under the banner Find out what you’re made of. The initiative underscores the brand’s mission: helping individuals gain a complete understanding of their health with the aim of living 100 healthy years.
At the centre of the campaign is 61,000,000 Marias, a film directed by Tucker Bliss and shot in Toronto. Using the world’s most common woman’s name as a narrative device, the film shows that although there are 61 million “Marias” across the globe, each one is biologically unique. Through a mosaic of personal stories, the piece celebrates the nuances, quirks and aspirations that define individuality at a cellular level.
A second video series, set to launch in October, will highlight the case of John. While his name may be ordinary, his biology is not. The film demonstrates how Function Health tailors its services to individual needs, making the concept of personalised care both concrete and relatable.
The campaign is rolling out across streaming platforms, online video, radio, and out-of-home placements, with a strong presence in New York — including Grand Central Station. It will run through early November before evolving into holiday-themed creative, followed by refreshed content timed with the New Year.
Founded in 2022 and already recognised as one of TIME100’s Most Influential Companies, Function Health offers its members lab tests covering more than 100 biomarkers across every organ system. This, combined with AI-assisted MRI scans, provides what the company calls the clearest window yet into the human body.
“Function was created to help people understand what’s happening under the hood,” explained Kelly Johnson, VP of brand at Function Health. “This campaign highlights how unique we all are and how Function empowers individuals to optimise that uniqueness.”
Andy Grayson, director of strategy at Arts & Letters, added: “We wanted a platform that reflects Function’s mission and connects it to the truth that everyone is truly a ‘one-of-one’. The work is about celebrating that individuality while making health more accessible.”
With 61,000,000 Marias, Function Health positions itself not only as a health tech innovator but also as a storyteller, reinforcing the idea that knowing yourself at the deepest level is the first step to living better and longer.
