Two decades after the iconic iPod Sock, Apple returns to textile design with a bold collaboration that blurs the boundaries between fashion and technology. In partnership with the legendary Japanese fashion house Issey Miyake, the brand unveils the iPhone Pocket—a 3D-knitted, stretchable pouch designed not merely as an accessory but as a true fashion statement.
Crafted in Japan under Issey Miyake’s philosophy of “A Piece of Cloth,” the iPhone Pocket embodies the perfect fusion of innovation, minimalism, and craftsmanship. It represents Apple’s latest exploration of tactile design—an object that feels as sophisticated as the devices it protects.
Launching on November 14, the iPhone Pocket will be available in a limited selection of Apple Stores worldwide, including Paris Saint-Germain. The ribbed and pleated knit adapts seamlessly to any iPhone model and can also hold small essentials such as AirPods, cards, or lip balm. When stretched, its airy texture subtly reveals the phone’s screen beneath, giving it a light, almost sculptural quality. It can be carried by hand, worn crossbody, or attached to a bag—transforming into what Apple describes as a “wearable piece of technology.”
This collaboration is more than a product—it’s a dialogue between two icons of design. Steve Jobs, a devoted admirer of Issey Miyake, famously wore Miyake’s black turtlenecks, which became synonymous with his visionary persona. The Apple x Issey Miyake partnership thus feels like a poetic return—a merging of the functional simplicity of Apple with the artistic elegance of Japanese design. It also marks Apple’s first major fashion collaboration since the Apple Watch Hermès partnership, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to exploring lifestyle and identity through design.
According to Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director at Miyake Design Studio, the iPhone Pocket was conceived as “an additional pocket—a space that connects the object with its owner.” He adds, “Its simplicity is intentional, leaving room for imagination and personal interpretation.”
Molly Anderson, Apple’s vice president of industrial design, describes it as “a clever yet universal piece that harmonizes with every iPhone model, regardless of finish. It’s designed not just to protect but to express.”
In keeping with Miyake’s legacy of textile innovation, the iPhone Pocket is offered in two formats: a short version priced at €159.95 (available in eight colors) and a long version at €249.95 (in three colors). The palette—ranging from lemon yellow and sapphire blue to warm cinnamon—was meticulously curated to complement the iPhone 17 lineup, from the Pro to the Air models.
With its sculptural minimalism and premium craftsmanship, the iPhone Pocket transforms a simple protective case into an object of style and identity—a tangible expression of how technology and fashion can coexist seamlessly.
