At the Africa Investment Forum (AIF) held on November 26–27, Huawei brought together nearly 600 senior officials, development partners, and industry leaders to explore how digital technologies can accelerate Africa’s inclusive and sustainable development. Through two high-level sessions, the company outlined strategic frameworks and practical roadmaps aimed at strengthening the continent’s digital foundations.

During the session dedicated to “Africa’s digital transformation: harnessing emerging technologies for inclusive growth and global competitiveness,” Chris Meng, president of marketing & solution at Huawei Northern Africa, presented the company’s “four new” framework. This strategic vision places new infrastructure—powered by advanced networks, cloud systems, intelligent technologies, and fintech—at the core of Africa’s digital evolution. According to Meng, a robust infrastructure layer supports three essential pillars: a new economy driven by industrial digitalization, a new society providing more equitable services, and new security to ensure resilient and trustworthy digital environments.

Government leaders also contributed to the discussion. Abdallah O. Souleymane O. Cheikh-Sidia, minister of economic affairs and development of Mauritania, stressed the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships to position the digital economy as a driver of national progress. Ismael Nabé, Guinea’s minister of planning and international cooperation, highlighted the transformative role of technological innovation and digital capabilities in accelerating socioeconomic development. The African Development Bank (AfDB) reiterated that resilient digital infrastructure—particularly connectivity—remains fundamental to unlocking the continent’s economic potential.

Colin Hu, president of enterprise business at Huawei Northern Africa, emphasized the broader societal impact of digital expansion. “From digital divide to digital opportunities, from infrastructure to inclusive value, Africa is writing its own new chapter in the digital era,” he noted.

The conversation continued on November 27 with Huawei’s side event, “Together, building an inclusive digital Africa.” Jason Ye, chief digital officer of Huawei Northern Africa, introduced the company’s “five inclusive solutions,” designed to expand accessibility, affordability, resilience, sustainability, and innovation within Africa’s digital landscape. These solutions aim to ensure that technological progress reaches underserved communities and strengthens overall digital resilience across the region.

Across both days, consensus emerged among participants: Africa’s digital future holds immense opportunity, but success will depend on sustained public-private collaboration, significant investment in digital infrastructure, and continued support for human capital development. For Huawei and its partners, the goal remains clear—help build a more connected, inclusive, and competitive digital Africa.
