VML Thailand turns sauce packet clutter into free pizza for The Pizza Company

title..

In a move that blended humor, cultural insight, and clever marketing, The Pizza Company, Thailand’s largest pizza chain, teamed up with VML Thailand to launch an activation that transformed forgotten sauce packets into free pizza — and successfully brought customers back into restaurants.

Every Thai household knows the scene: cupboards and fridge doors stuffed with unused ketchup, chili sauce, fish sauce, mustard, or vinegar packets from years of delivery meals. What many saw as clutter, The Pizza Company saw as opportunity.

On Mother’s Day, in celebration of the nation’s “No. 1 sauce keepers,” the brand launched the “Sauce Packet Coupon” campaign. The mechanic was as simple as it was effective: bring any stash of unused sauce packets — from any brand — into any Pizza Company restaurant. Staff would weigh the packets, and the heavier the haul, the bigger the discount, up to 100 baht — enough to cover a medium pizza.

The reaction was immediate. Families arrived with bags, boxes, even buckets of condiment packets. Social media buzzed with posts of people unloading their hoards, and dining rooms filled nationwide. The results spoke volumes: Average Order Value jumped 58%, while on digital platforms the campaign reached an additional 2.6 million people and generated over 109,000 interactions.

By turning a symbol of the delivery era into a playful incentive for dining in, The Pizza Company not only drove sales but also delivered one of Thailand’s most loved brand activations of the year. A national quirk became a national event — and clutter turned into culture.
